Plot
This film tells the story of two childhood friends, Bhoominathan (Bhoomi) and Moorkasamy (Moorkkan), who belong to different castes. Bhoomi saves Moorkkan from a bull, showcasing their strong friendship. However, Moorkkan’s parents want to separate them due to Bhoomi’s lower caste. Bhoomi inspires his community to pursue education like him. Before the election, the opposition party, which represents Moorkkan’s caste, faces a challenge in putting up their posters in areas dominated by other communities. Moorkkan supports his friend Bhoomi, but the opposition party plots to kill Bhoomi and frame Moorkkan for the crime. Will Bhoomi be murdered? Will Moorkkan be wrongly accused of killing his own friend?”
Star performance
Arulnithi perfectly plays the main character ( Moorkasamy ) , who acts tough but has a soft heart. Santhosh ( Bhoominathan ) balances this out with his gentle nature. The actors really make the film work, especially in the romantic scenes between Moorkkan and Kavitha (Dushara Vijayan). The director, Gowthama, makes up for it by adding his modern and open-minded views to a film that highlights a sensitive topic.
Analysis
“Kazhuvethi Moorkkan scores big with its talented cast, including Arulnithi, Santhosh Pratap, and Munishkanth, who deliver top-notch performances. The film sheds light on the sensitive topic of caste hierarchy with sharp insights. While the story has solid roots, it takes its sweet time to unfold. Unfortunately, the over-the-top dramatics and romantic subplot with Dushara Vijayan feel like unnecessary extras. However, the movie shines with memorable characters, snappy dialogues, and bold commentary on harmful beliefs. D Imman’s music is catchy, but sometimes overwhelming. The action scenes and editing are hit-or-miss. On the downside, the writing is patchy, and the story feels outdated with too many fillers. The protagonist’s journey falls flat, and the female lead is sadly underutilized as just a pretty face.
