Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian Cricket team Captain, retired from international cricket in 2020 and shocked the cricket enthusiasts and his fans. The man has a huge fan base and is one of the most-liked cricketers in the Chennai Super Kings, the IPL team. He had been the Captain of the CSK since the beginning. On 24th March 2022, Dhoni announced that he steps down as a Captain from CSK but will continue as a player. Ravindra Jadeja was given the captaincy now, and it was the decision by MSD.

When asked about his reason for stepping down from the captaincy, CSK's CEO Kasi Viswanathan stated he was also surprised by Dhoni's decision. He added that if Dhoni takes any decision, it will be for his team's welfare, so they respect his decision and support him. He also stated that they are confident, as Dhoni will guide them. Jadeja had been in CSK like Dhoni for years.
