Gene Deitch, the creator of the cartoons Tom and Jerry and Popeye The Sailorman passed away on 16th April 2020. At the age of 95, he breathed his last and the reason for his death is intestinal issues. He was born on 8th August 1924 in Chicago. He was an American born Czech illustrator. He created a lot of popular cartoon series including Munroe and Tom Terrific. He had also played a great role in creating the animated series of Tom and Jerry and Popeye.
Gene was married to Marie Deitch from 1943–1960 and then married Zdenka Deitchova. Gene was survived with his wife and children, Kim, Simon and Seth. Like Gene, his sons are the writers and artists. May his soul rest in peace! Our deepest condolences to his family and friends!
