Mouna Raagam Tamil is a daily TV soap. This family TV drama has in its lead a child whose name is Sakthi. The story of this serial revolves around this child. Although this TV show had been first made by the Star Maa TV Channel which called it Koilamma. Later, Asianet TV channel remade this TV show naming it Vanamadi. It was the third time when this TV show was being remade again.

The seven-year-old Sakthi is born with a talent. She is able to sing any tune, any musical rhythm, and find music from any sort of noise. She has the ability to learn any kind of music. But her life takes difficult turns. Her father has left her mother, and she has to listen to a lot of remarks and face pointed questions from people.

One day her mother tells her that her father is alive and, he is a well-established and a popular singer. Soon Sakthi’s mother leaves the world and, the baby girl decides to fulfill the dream her mother saw her. It is a story of a cute little girl, who can sing well. After her mother's death, she went in search of her father, who is also a famous singer.

Music is Shakthi's life, but despite her passion for singing, Mallika, prevents her from pursuing singing, because her father left them for his music career. After her mother dies, Swarna exploits Shakthi's singing talent for her own selfish benefits. However, her uncle takes a stern decision regarding Shakthi.

Shakthi reaches Chennai, disguised as a boy, with hopes of finding her biological father. She is eventually adopted by Karthik Krishna's childless elder brother, Murali Krishna, and his wife Nandini, who manages to discover Shakthi's lineage, thereby assisting her in her attempts to reconcile with her father.

This serial enables us to join Shakthi in her musical venture, and see what struggles she goes through to find her real identity. Indeed, it is an engaging story and has successfully built a nice fan base among the Tamil television audience, repeating the same success its Bengali precursor had in Bengal.
