Mylanchi is a music reality show for the Mappila songs produced by the Asianet. The winner of the third season is Keerthana. Finoobin and Athira won the second and the third prize respectively. The grand finale of the season happened on April 4, 2014, at the Abudhabi Armed forced officers club, United Arab Emirates. Asianet is an entertainment channel from India broadcasting in the Malayalam language. The headquarters is at Trivandrum, Kerala.
The channel is part of the Asianet Communications Limited. The program happens to telecast every Sunday and Saturday at 1 PM. Naznin Abulla was the anchor of the show. The entire lists of the finalists are Athira, Shruthi, Sanoofa, Finoobin and Keerthana. All performed fantastically throughout the season. A huge crowd attended the show. The judges of the show are Afsal, Kannur Sherif and Sindu. Afsal is a renowned Indian film singer in Malayalam cinema. Kannur is the musical artist known for many notable musical labels. Sindhu Premkumar is also professional Malayalam singer with a lot of Malayalam songs to her. So, all the singers are very distinguished judges. They helped the participants throughout the journey and now that its finale, it’s just they have to step back and enjoy their efforts. They have performed, both singularly and also as duets, on stage showing their talents and giving an example to the upcoming artist.
The anchor did a fantastic job, and the set of the event was built to give a palace kind of feel to it. Many other performers regularly visited the show and performed various trendy numbers. The intro of the show had catchy visuals accompanying with background song. The audience seemed to enjoy and danced with performers on the stage. The show along with Mappila songs had some Bollywood numbers to entertain the crowd.
But mostly the songs selection has been very specific than a more general-kind of a show of such types like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa where they chose songs of all genres, instead of dwelling into songs of one particular adds to the overall quality of the show and made the show more professional. In the finale parents of the performers happen to be present at the event. The show overall turns out to be a nostalgic one for the Malabar people. Mappila songs are very rhythmic and simplistic, and they are so much soothing to hear and are very much part of the culture of northern Kerala.
