Akkare Ikkare is a Malayalam TV serial broadcasted on Asianet channel under the direction of Gireesh Konni. The serial started on February 16, 2009 and had good rating from the start.

This humorous serial is of a story about a ‘Gulf Colony’. It has 25 houses figured from G-1 up to G-25. The Gulf Colony is 400 meters away from the Cherunniyoor Village. The Gulf Residency Association has distinct rules for all its members and there are small shops to supermarkets. Gulf connection is required when doing marriage proposals.

People who live in the village knows about the Gulf Colony and they go there by walking, cycling or by means of car to get some things. The entire villages are connected to Gulf. The first person who went to Gulf was Kunjahammed Sayip (played by Maamukoya) and he helped several people to go abroad. In return, he gets nothing but poverty. Daniel has a wife who works in Kuwait as a nurse. Leelavathi is operating a play school and she has a husband who works in Dubai as an Engineer. These characters are completely different from one another and the only thing that connects them is their love for Gulf.

Milkmaid Sukumari Amma was known to be the colony’s megaphone. Outsiders usually hear the daily events in Gulf such as those people who come and go, the things they carry from abroad and more. Famous Madhavi Amma has a son named Jayan who is the hero in this serial. His daughter is Sheela. Jayan was astonished by the stories of Sukumari Amma so he was eager to go abroad. The story begins with the sudden death of Sathyan, Sukumari’s husband. He lives in Gulf for over two decades so everyone was shocked by his sudden death.
