"Jamai Raja" on Zee Bangla is a Bengali remake of the Hindi TV serial that goes by the same name on Zee TV. The story revolves around a man named Siddharth, who keeps his real identity secret to improve the relationship between his wife and mother-in-law. Durga Devi Patel called DD and her daughter named Roshni have many differences and misunderstandings between them which leads them to grow apart and dislike each other. DD is a rich and wealthy woman who frowns upon anyone who is beneath the wealthy status. She also frowns upon the fact that her daughter Roshni even though is an independent woman, is a firm supporter of equality regardless of the discrimination between rich and poor.
When DD meets Siddharth on a flight, he immediately picks up on her attitude and decides to mess around a bit by pretending to be a fellow middle-class person. When the same Siddharth meets Roshni, he pretends the same and gradually earns her trust after a few days. They fall in love gradually and get married. How Siddharth overcomes the differences and helps to improve the relationship between DD and Roshni all the while keeping his real identity secret is what constitutes the rest of the episodes.
