Dr. Joseph, a professional medical practitioner, is happily married to Susan. The couple has a daughter, Anna. Susan’s father is Arthur. Joseph wants his daughter to pursue music abroad. But, Susan’s advice to her daughter is to move overseas and have a music career after completing her studies. The happy family doesn’t know they will be forced into a strange situation. During the pandemic period, Dr. Joseph dies unexpectedly. Anna, who couldn’t come out of her father’s death, decides to communicate with him. But fate brings an evil spirit. What happens next? Is Anna possessed? The rest of the film speaks about the troubles faced by Susan and Anna.
Nayanthara has done her part perfectly as a mother to a teenager. Vinay is superb in his role as Dr. Joseph. Anupam Kher, Sathyaraj, and Haniya fit well in their roles.
The story is not new but has a different plot with exorcism. Unlike some horror-comedy films, Connect is a properly made horror thriller with some thrilling experiences. Ashwin could have concentrated more on the screenplay, which lags at a point. However, some gripping scenes, eerie BGM, dark visuals, and performances of the stars make us forget the loopholes and concentrate more on the screen. The stars satisfy us with their natural performances. Nayanthara should be appreciated for making good decisions in picking special characters, especially for playing the mother of a teenager. After Viswasam, she is seen in this kind of role. The sound design in the movie is incredibly made; thanks to Hariharan and Sachin Sudhakaran for designing excellent sound and making the audience enjoy the genre.
What’s Not There?
Though the film lacks something with the content, the performances and some thrilling scenes make the audience enjoy the movie as an edge-seat thriller!
