won’t be directing the sequel to ‘Mookuthi Amman’, which stars Nayanthara in the lead role.
Now there are reports that Sundar C, whose last film ‘Aranmanai 4’ had broken the dry spell at the Kollywood box office, will be the director for ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’, which will star Nayanthara as the local deity once again.
Release in late 2020, ‘Mookuthi Amman’ was the directorial debut of RJ Balaji. This was the story of Engels Ramasamy, a news anchor, who cleans the temple of Mookuthi Amman, and according to the custom, stays for the night. Ramasamy is surprised, when Mookuthi Amman, played by Nayanthara, appears in person, and grants him three wishes. Due to restrictions imposed by the COVID 19 pandemic, the film was released directly on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.
Meanwhile, Nayanthara is handling multiple reports. Apart from ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’, she will be returning to Mollywood as well, with one of the films starring Mammootty in the lead role, and Gautham Vasudev Menon making his directorial debut in Malayalam as well. Nayanthara is also playing a key role in the Geethu Mohandas directed ‘Toxic’, which stars Kannada superstar ‘Rocking Star’ Yash in the lead role.
