Plot

Ram is a photographer, who travels to a lot of places. When he visits his native, his memories take him back to his childhood. He goes nostalgic when he visits the hospital where he born; he visits the school where he spent his time with his friends. Janu comes to his mind. He contacts his friends and they plan for a get-together. What happens when he meets Janu, his first love? Is she married? Experience the nostalgic feel in the theaters.

Star Performance

As usual, Vijay Sethupathi had done a fantastic job. Trisha had performed well and proved that she could play sensitively. Devadarshini, Murugadoss and Bhagavathi had played their part excellently well. Janagaraj and Kavithalaya Krishnan’s cameo appearance is also good. Adithya Bhaskar and Gouri Kishan had also done justice to their roles.

Analysis

A lot of movies are being made as romantic entertainers. But, not all of them touch the heart, except a few. Premkumar has come with a simple romantic script, but his narration is excellent. Govind Vasantha’s songs and the BGM are a great support to the film. The cinematography is also excellent. Small incidents that happened in the childhood are still a great treasure and the director has brought it in front of our eyes. After watching this film, many people might go nostalgic.

What’s There?

Star cast is excellent and kudos to the casting team
Performance of the leads and the supporting stars are excellent
Perfect narration by Prem
The BGM by Govind and the cinematography by Shammu and Mahi are laudable

What’s Not There?

Trisha comes in a similar costume, which is boring a bit

Verdict

96 takes all the middle-aged people to their childhood. Many people go nostalgic and their memories project their first love in front of them, after watching 96. Totally, 96 is a feel-good movie that could be watched more than once!
