Plot
Kuruvi is the apple of the eye for her family. However, her schoolmates don’t think the same way. Tired of the harassment over her skin tone, Kuruvi turns to dancing to vent out her frustration. Will she succeed?

They are the main reason why this movie works, and despite its flaws, it leaves a solid impression on the masses.
Analysis
Movies or TV serials over skin discrimination are not something uncommon. However, very few try to make a movie from a teenager’s perspective over the similar theme. Is ‘Kuruvi Paappa’ a welcome change in this direction?
The movie revolves around a girl who suffers everyday due to her skin tone. Unlike other movies, this movie has a super supportive family for a change. But that is not enough for Kuruvi, who is facing the side effects of peer pressure. She resorts to dancing as refuge.
The narrative is simplistic, but thankfully, it is far from boring. There is nothing over the top. In fact, the writers have managed to put up a story that is simple, clear, and thoughtful. They have done a brilliant job in terms of putting up a good narrative. On that note, full marks to Bismith Nilambur and Jasmin Jazz.
Not many are aware that this movie is actually a family project. However, in a welcome move, the nepotism offline doesn’t affect the flow of the film in anyway. In fact, Tanha Fatima, who plays the role of Kuruvi, gives her best shot in showing the troubles faced by those, who don’t have the ‘luxury’ of being fair skinned.
The supporting actors are equally brilliant in their part. Vineeth has done a brilliant job, and he is strongly supported by Muktha George, who has returned in style. The only place where this film falls short is the lack of nuance in the screenplay.

‘Kuruvi Paappa’ is a welcome surprise. The movie shows how a little support can make you overcome every kind of trouble, whether emotional or social. The movie may not be flawless, but the strong performances more than make up for it. You can definitely watch this if you like refreshing movies with a deep message!
