Plot

Mathappan (Vishnu Unnikrishnan) is a thief in the Koduntara village. He is a popular thief in the village but has not successfully executed any big robbery. He decides to steal the statue of Lord Krishna from the village temple. However, if he fails in this robbery, he will end his life. On the other side, Priyamani (Anusree) leaves her house. She needs money for the treatment of her sick mother.

Mathappan fails to commit the robbery and decides to end his life. But that evening, he meets Priyamani. She tells him to steal the statue of Bhagavathy from an ancient temple across the river. Mathappan agrees to this and jumps into the river to reach the temple. Things become interesting when the Goddess Bhagavathy (Moksha) appears before him. What will Mathappan do now?

Star Performance

Vishnu Unnikrishnan perfectly executed his character of Mathappan. His expressions and dialogue delivery, especially during his conversation with the Goddess, is very impressive. The 2014 Ithihasa film actress Priyamani gave a decent performance.

Moksha gave the best performance in this film. She excellently played the character of the Goddess. She looks beautiful in fancy jewelry and sarees. She makes the viewers laugh and spreads her charm throughout the film.

Rajesh Madhavan and Johny Antony add comedy to this film. Prem Kumar looks fantastic in the character of SI Sudhamsan.

Analysis

The direction and screenplay keep the viewers in a world of fantasy till the end. The conversations between Mathappan and the Goddess might be illogical for some viewers. However, Mathappan's dialogues and the Goddess's replies are appealing to viewers. The music by Ranjin Raj is soothing and makes the film beautiful. The cinematography excellently builds a spiritual atmosphere.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Moksha are the two strengths of this film. The conversations between them in the second half are outstanding. Romance, comedy, and devotion to religion are the elements in this film. There is also a choir song, including Salim Kumar Salim Kumar is a person who deserves the title of >> Read More... . However, the storyline is outdated and seems like a television serial. There is nothing new in the story, and some characters lack depth.

What’s There?

• Spiritual film.

• Fantasy and divine power.

• Comedy.

• Fantastic conversations between thief Mathappan and the Goddess.

• Soothing music.

• Excellent cinematography.

• Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Moksha’s performance.

What’s Not There?

• Outdated story.

• Poor development of some characters.

• Some comedic scenes fail.

Verdict

Kallanum Bhagavathyum might be illogical for some viewers, but the thief and the Goddess hold the film firmly. However, there is nothing unique in this film.
