Plot
The film revolves around a messy and chaotic family with their share of troubles and concerns. Jayshree, the wife, doesn't get along so well with her husband. The husband, Girish, is a retired army man who just wants to spend his retirement peacefully.
Yet, despite the day to day spats, things remain cordial in the household for the most part. But as the viewers begin to get comfortable, things get thrown for a toss.
Girish becomes irritated with his wife and daughter’s overuse of the internet. Things get even more challenging when the family is faced with the dark side of the internet.
Star Performance
The cast includes Shivada Nair, Sumesh Chandran and Rahul Madhav in lead roles.
Shivada Nair and Sumesh Chandran have both portrayed the domesticity of their roles well. They bring a colorful dynamic to the screen, making their relationship, between the quirky Jayshree and the grumpy Girish fun to watch.
Rahul Madhav plays the role of a creepy computer technician. Indeed, he plays it well. His presence elicits an uncomfortable vibe in the movie, and he pulls of the shadiness of the character with ease.
Analysis
The film Jawanum Mullappoovam is intended to showcase a quirky and somewhat problematic family that comes together to overcome the challenges the face. It succeeds for the most part, but there are certain parts of the film that seem overly dramatic and exaggerated, which makes it corny to watch.Â
The plotlines seem a little absurd at times, like the need for Jayshree to call a computer mechanic in the middle of the night when neither her daughter nor her husband were at home. The scenes seem a bit unnecessary at times.
The characters, as well, though quirky, sometimes do things that seem completely unnatural to the essence of their character, making their actions seem unusual.
But despite everything else, the film does have an element of intrigue to it that manages to keep the audience hooked till the end. The emotional scenes are quite touching, and the plot is wholesome and family-oriented.
The director, Raghu Menon, has done a good job, considering it is his first film.

Jawanum Mullappoovam is certainly a cute and wholesome film. There may be certain flaws with its execution, but all in all, it is a fun experience. The essence of the film is what makes it worth a watch.
