Star Performance

Asif Ali and Murali Gopy have just lived in the characters. Both have performed extraordinarily well. Murali has to expose varieties of characteristics of the role he played. He plays a womanizer but good to his friend. We could just say that it is a tough acting competition between Asif and Murali. Varalaxmi and Manasa don’t have much work, but they have done their best.

Ananthapadmanabhan has scripted an exceptional story that goes deep into the characters. Arun Kumar has executed it pretty well and the stars have just reflected what the director wanted. Even Arun Kumar might not have expected such a performance from the leads. Arun Kumar has added some commercial elements here and there not to make the film, a documentary. As the story is set in the 70’s background, some of the concepts couldn’t be related to the present.

What’s There?

  • Performance of Asif and Murali are fantastic; especially Murali’s rugged performance
  • Varalaxmi suits the role well and she had played it with ease
  • Prashanth’s visuals are an excellent treat to the eyes
  • Deepak Dev has proved his excellence with the BGM and the songs are also good
  • The tradition and the life of the people is beautifully pictured

What’s Not There?

  • The movie gives a lengthy feel and certain scenes might have been trimmed

Kaattu is a good attempt by the entire team. Reason to watch the movies are the performance of the stars, the BGM and the visuals. Kaattu is definitely a onetime watch worthy film.
