Kaalakaandi” is the black comedy film scripted and directed by Akshat Verma. The film is produced by Rohit Khattar and Ashi Dua Sara. The music composition is by Sameer Uddin and the background score is by Shashwat Sachdev. Himman Dhamija cranked the camera and Sham Mohammed edited the film. The film features Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Shivam Patil, Amanda Rosario, Shenaz Treasurywala, Angela Krislinzki, Neil Bhoopalam and Amyra Dastur.

Saif Ali Khan is a good person, who decides to live as per he wishes, after finding out that his life is short, as he is affected by cancer. He moves intimately with a transgender to know about their anatomy. There is another track with a woman, who is trying to escape from the hit and run case. Yet another track has two thugs, who are in a situation whether to believe the other one or not.

Star Performance

Saif Ali Khan has done his best. He had always been bold with his character selection. Saif’s dialogue delivery, expressions and the body language are fantastic. Except for Saif’s role, the potential of the stars who played in the parallel tracks seems to have been wasted.

Akshat Varma has scripted Kaalakaandi. Although Saif’s role has been designed well, the screenplay is not much impressive. We feel that the screenplay lacks something while watching the film. However, the bonding of Saif and Nary Singh is the best part of the film.

What’s There?

  • Saif’s performance
  • Chemistry between Saif and Nary Singh

What’s Not There?

  • Slow screenplay
  • Except for Saif, other characters are given less importance

The film just tests the patience. If you want to watch the splendid performance of Saif, then you could visit the theaters and other than Saif’s performance, the film has nothing to offer.
