Plot:
The film tells revolves around the story of Dev, Dev's mother and his two beautiful kids Shreya and Sam. Shreya is shown as a tomboy and is too matured for her age. She even calls her father by his name. Her brother Sam is her partner in all her mischievous activities and is often led as the victim. The kids don’t have a mother. They are taken care by their grandma.
The characters are established well, and the story is moved swiftly to where it belongs – a nondescript village somewhere in Haryana. Lakshmigarh is a backward place and doesn’t have basic amenities like water and medicine. It is governed by a village panchayat that is slowly opening up to the thought of having its hospital. The place has a shady secret that not many know about. The film holds onto the suspense of what the shady secret is which is revealed by the kids.
Analysis:
Jalpari is not just for children, but a must-watch for adults too. This small film has a few messages to convey, one of them being gender equality. At the start, you might feel that its a kid's fairytale. But by interval time, you find your way someway in the story blended with emotions of sweetness and fear.
Some splendid frames are captured of the geographical setting. The music, though rarely used, is amazing, and the Bargad track by

steals the show. The children in the movie give many aww moments, and the daughter can be wished to be your daughter too.

With flaws in the movie that are many, the movie does not leave you with an untouched heart. With characters suiting well and the location the movie it is set in, it is a watch for all Indians who wish to bring up the gender equality in the country.
