After India gets its independence, it took part in the Olympic games in 1948 in London. Tapan Das is the manager of the Indian hockey team in 1948 and he wanted to win the game against Britishers on their land. Tapan Das dreams to see the Indian flag flying high in the British land. He feels it would be a pride for each and every Indian. Did he gain success? Watch the film theatres!
Akshay Kumar had done a great job and he had done the serious role with the comedy topping. Kunal Kapoor has also done justice to his role. Vineet Kumar, Amit Sadh and Sunny Kaushal did their part excellently. Mouni Roy comes as the Bengali girl and she played quite naturally.
Gold is a film about hockey and inspired by the real incidents and it is a fictional story. However, the film makes us feel the painful reality during the Independence when India and Pakistan got separated. Production values are excellent and the costume designing section needs special appreciation. The cinematography and the background score are the two pillars of this movie. Like the cricket matches in “ Lagaan” and Hockey matches in Chak De India, Gold has brought us a great thrill with the hockey matches. The first half of the film is a bit slow, as the director had to introduce all the characters. The emotional value of the following is superb and the performances of the artists take us to the pre-independence era.
What's Not There?
The film has a lot of goosebumps moments. The screenplay and execution are good. The film takes us to the pre-independence era and when we see the Indian National Flag flying high, we feel proud. If you are a sports lover and love to watch historic films, this will definitely entertain you.
