A not so ordinary love story, star studded with Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu, and to add to the spice, Directed by R Balki. These three statements are enough for anyone to watch the movie. As stated in the initial lines, the imperfection of the couple makes the film perfect. Cheeni Kum deals with two adults wanting to spend rest of their lives together but trying the find a solution to the age gap between them. The restaurant meetings of Bachchan and Tabu are intriguing. The talk between Bachchan and the child tells about the softer side of him. Some scenes looked as if they are stretched unnecessarily: overall the film is quite an entertainer for any of the age groups. Illaiyaraja did his magic again for cheenikum as a music director.
Amitabh Bachchan never does injustice to his character neither he makes us feels that he is in the industry from the past 40 years, The simplicity and originality by which he has pursued the role of Buddha Dev is commendable. Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Zohra Sehgal also added to the simplicity of the movie. The child who portrayed sexy’s character was quite confident and fresh with her role.
1. Dialogues, I think the Unique Selling Point of the film after Amitabh Bacchan is the screenplay and dialogues that have been written very well.
2. All the characters have been carved quite naturally and originally.
3. Humor along with emotional sequences.
What’s Not there?
1. Foreign locations, suspense, typical Bollywood flavor.
2. I think the younger age group will not connect to the film that much.
Cheeni Kum is a Film about the things which look difficult are so easy when you have your emotions and decisions right.
The film shows how two people from different age gaps can decide to stay together. If you want to spend a soothing time with a permanent smile on your face, Cheeni Kum is the movie you need
