Plot
Anina aka 'Ani' Dixit is an aspiring cricketer who aims to earn laurels for Team India. She has performed well in the national sector and is all set to make it big at the international level.
Her dreams are shattered when an accident leaves her right hand amputated. Everyone convinces Anina to not give up, but she has lost hope. She gets unlikely support from Padam Singh Sodhi, a frustrated, alcoholic ex-cricketer, who decides to train her and give her a new lease of life.
Star Performances
The star attractions of this movie are three people: Abhishek, Saiyami, and R Balki.
Following his performances in 'Bob Biswas' and 'Dasvi,' Abhishek Bachchan has scored another winner with his rendition of Padam Singh Sodhi, a former cricketer frustrated with constant rejections.
Saiyami Kher has performed ably in the role of Anina, a talented cricketer who rises again after an accident almost claims her. Even Shabana Azmi lends solid support to her character.
R Balki has given yet another winner. He is one of the few directors who maintain their focus on quality, and 'Ghoomer' is another brilliant example.
Analysis
There are very few directors who continue improving their craft with each passing day, irrespective of the results. But not R Balki. A simple look at his profile would tell you that he has hardly given a bland, soulless movie, and 'Ghoomer' is one more glorious addition to his illustrious collection.
After a riveting, nerve-wrenching thriller like "Chup", R Balki has come up with a less talked about the subject: women's sports. To top it all, he has a protagonist that is differently abled. Despite the challenges, R Balki manages to deliver an emotional tale that is worth the salt.
Not many filmmakers have even dared to attempt in this direction in Indian cinema, let alone Bollywood. But R Balki believes in his story, and his actors have maintained his belief. Almost everyone, from Saiyami Kher in the lead to Abhishek Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in the supporting cast, has done a fantabulous job.
The only flaw in this movie, if any, is the pace. The narrative is slightly irregular, and at times one might feel disinterested. Yet, the performances are more than enough to correct this.

'Ghoomer' is that one movie that inspires you for the better. The plot has its heart in the right place. The acting performances are outstanding, and the soundtrack, even if not flawless, is engaging. Do watch this movie for once!Â
