Plot

Abby Holland and Harper Caldwell have been dating for more than a year. Abby hates Christmas because on that day, her parents died. After hearing this, Harper wanted to make Abby's Christmas memorable. She invites her to celebrate Christmas with her family. Abby thinks this is a chance to confess her feelings to Harper and proposes to her marriage. While on their way, Harper revealed  she did not tell her parents that she was a lesbian. This angered Abby. Harper tells her she will admit it after Christmas, as it might ruin her father’s campaign. Abby understood Harper. Harper tells her to pretend as a straight roommate. Abby agrees with this. But in front of Harper's parents, Abby is an orphan friend. Harper's parents are obsessed with perfection. Abby is treated differently, and she is feeling uncomfortable with her family. Harper also started to ignore her. Will Harper tell her parents that she is a lesbian? Will she reveal her and Abby's relationship? The rest of the story deals with it.

Star Performance

Kristen Stewart’s performance was excellent. Her struggle to deal with her girlfriend’s family was lovely. Mackenzie Davis acting was great. She wants her family to be happy, but at the same time, she does not want to hurt the feelings of her girlfriend. This character shows the real experience faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Mackenzie Davis did as she expected. Audrey Plaza did an outstanding performance. There should be a male friend of a lesbian in a movie. Dan Levy became this missing character. Dan Levy's  performance was astonishing as a friend. Alison Brie's character made this movie great. Mary Holland did an excellent performance. All the other actors did as they were expected.

Analysis

The film shows the real struggle faced by the LGBTQ+ community. It not only focuses on LGBTQ+, but many other relevant things. Things are not readily accepted by people. This is the film’s theme. The theme is maintained correctly in the film. The first half of the movie was exciting, but the latter half became dull. This film is semi-autobiography of DuVall's own experiences. The film's storyline appears to be expected. It seems to be a normal, average or regular LGBTQ+ movie. There is nothing new in the film. There are some hidden meanings and messages in each character. The film dialogues are superb. The film's has so many comedy scenes. The visuals of the film were great. This film music and background songs were excellent. The plots were good.

The film has a good storyline with amazing actors. The movie is a comedy dramatic film. The film is amusing, and at the same time, the film gives importance to certain relevant things that average human being ignore in their daily life. The film can be watched by any community of people.
