Plot
The film begins three days after Anastasia dumps her newfound boyfriend, business mogul Christian Gray. Anna finished her studies and is working as a personal assistant to Jack as an editor. We learn that Jack’s three previous hires quit within 18 months. Anna has decided that she has nothing to do with Christian because of his sadistic tendencies, however, she has a hard time dealing with Jack who is hitting on her. Anna tries to ignore him, but he is relentless. Meanwhile, Christian is having nightmares about his abusive childhood, and he wakes up in the middle of the night. He immediately seeks out Anna and emails her regarding an art exhibition in Portland of her best friend Jose. Anna gets the mail, and she is shocked since she didn’t think that Christian remembered. However, she decides to go and support her at the entrance to the gallery Anna encounters Christian. She still wants to keep her distance so she does not speak to him; however, she learns that Jose’s new art pictures are all pictures of her. And Christian’s jealousy makes him buy all the pieces, Anna confronts him about this and Christian reveals that he does not want random people to take the pictures. The rest of the film opens up the suspense of their relationship. Will Anna come back with Christian?
Star Performance
The protagonist of the film, Dakota Johnson portrayed as Anastasia Steele has done justice to her role. She has the perfect potential to act as a shy, introverted college girl. Also, the other main protagonist, Jamie, playing as Christian managed to play accurately to the character provided to him. He had reasonable control over his emotions and was great at switching dialogues and tones as per the scenes. Not only them, but the supporting cast has also done a remarkable job in delivering the right scenes.
Analysis
The film combines the essence of romance and drama. The director managed to balance the interesting elements of the plot with an emphasis on emotional and psychological perspectives of the characters. The cinematography plays a vital role establishing the right mood for the film. The lighting being dim has also contributed to set the vibe of the content. The cinematography was professional, providing all the close-ups at the right moment. The locations were outstanding complimenting Christian’s personality and his character. Not only that, but also the right tune of the background music set at the right time enhances the emotional undertones of the scenes. All these things were pretty good, except the film didn’t have a convincing and engaging storyline, keeping the viewers engaged through visuals.

Verdict
Altogether, for some people the film may seem superficial and emotionally shallow, but for others the way the relationship is portrayed can portray an unhealthy relationship, which is toxic.
