Plot
The kindergarten teacher weaves a gripping tale of how a passionate young teacher transforms into an obsessive fanatic to change the lives of her pupils. She guides him through the obstacles in order to enhance his exceptional ability to jot poetry. The film deals with the mental thought processes of the teacher in guiding her student, which ultimately leads her to take personal control of his upbringing. The film ends in a pathetic chain of events leading to the damaged lives of the teacher and her student.
Star Performance
Maggie Gyllenhaal, as Lisa, has breathed life into her character and has managed to pull out a strikingly complex role with sheer perfection. The troubled pseudo-intellectual role played adds a layer of perfection to the movie. The performance by Parker Sevak is equally impactful, showcasing a poignant conclusion.
Analysis
The silence in the movie had its own unique role. The comprehension of feelings and emotions, the search for meaning, and the soliloquy of characters capture the essence of thoughts beyond one’s control. However, the multiple instances of nudity could’ve been avoided. The graphic portrayal of obscene elements with a line transcending morality and decency is immoral. It raises important questions about the ethics of mentorship and repressed desires. The slow-paced transitions in the movie offer multiple opportunities for contemplation of the subject matter of the film. It leaves the audience with an uneasy yet compelling examination of human needs for purpose and connection. The film captivates the audience with the psychological unravelling of the characters with fixed eyeballs.

Verdict
The compelling yet thought-provoking story leads to moral dilemmas and psychological obstacles. Through the depiction of an obsessive mind seeking growth in her pupil, it raises opinions on the incongruous portrayal of the mind and body of the teacher and that of the child. It’s a must-watch film as it describes the workings of an individual with a psychological disorder. Yet, the mature themes intrude in the film, making it an adult film.
