After getting compromised with the state government relating to the Entertainment tax, the Theater Owners’ Association withdrew their strike yesterday. From today towards the theaters started screening the films. However, priority is given to the films that released last week.
Abirami Ramanathan
, the President of the Film Chamber of Commerce, stated that the tickets priced below Rs. 100 will be charged with 18% GST and the tickets priced at Rs. 120 will be charged 28% GST. But, the theater owners didn’t follow it and are charging as per their wish. The online ticket rates are charged Rs. 30 to 43 depending on the class. So, the ticket price in the multiplex is Rs. 183 to Rs. 193. Besides this, the snacks prices are also increased. Will Abirami Ramanathan control this?
