Along with Perarivalan, Nalini, Santhan, Murugan, Ravichandran, Robert Payas and Jayakumar had been in prison for 28 years. The Tamilnadu Ministry had recommended the release of these seven people. The Supreme Court had ordered the Governor to decide about their release.
