In Tollywood, the salary of the top stars’ is 20% of the budget. But in Kollywood, it even exceeds 50% of the budget. Most of the Tollywood heroes are paid up to Rs 15 to Rs 20 crores when the budget is Rs 100 crores. Similarly, when the films of the top actors earn Rs 200+ crores, they will be paid Rs 50 crores, which is also less, when comparing it to the Kollywood. A popular producer wants to revive the salary and get them linked to the box office.
He says that the salary should be fixed and the 60% should be paid and the 40% depends upon the box office success of the film. Only if the box office details are computerized, the right amount could be calculated and it would be easier to calculate the profit or loss. The producer says that the box office collection should be transparent. Will the Tamil Film Producers’ council speak about this with the stars?
