According to recent reports, the government of India has decided to revoke the National Award for Best Choreographer, awarded to Sheikh Jani Basha aka Jani Master, for his choreography in the Tamil movie ‘Thiruchitrambalam’.

The movie, which had released in late 2022, turned out to be a surprise hit, earning 110 crores worldwide, and also earned two National Awards : one for Nithya Menen’s performance as Shobana in the form of Best Actress, and the other for Best Choreography.

However, after POCSO charges were slapped on Jani Master for sexually assaulting his junior assistant at multiple places, the award has been revoked for now. Jani Master has been accused of sexual assault and intimidation, for which he was briefly arrested, though he was released on bail.

Apart from Tamil films, Jani Master also lends his services to Telugu and Hindi films. He last choreographed the songs for the much successful flick ‘Stree 2’, including the much talked about ‘Aaj ki Raat’.
