, the actor cum politician, tweeted today about the forest fire at Kurangani. He posted, “Kurangani forest fire and its victims is heart rending. Those with burn injuries should heal fast. I wish them all the best for recovery and rehabilitation. To those bereived families my deepest sympathy.” “குரங்கணி விபத்து மனதைப் பிழியும் சோகம். பிழைத்தவர் நலம் பெற வேண்டும். மீட்புப் பணியில் ஈடுபடுவோர் அனைவருக்கும் என் வணக்கங்கள். மாண்டவரின் உற்றாருக்கும் உறவினருக்கும் என் ஆழ்ந்த அனுதாபங்கள்.” Yesterday, being a holiday, many people from Chennai, Tirupur and Coimbatore were on a trekking to Kurangani hills in Theni district. Unfortunately, the trekkers were caught in the forest fire. Among the 37 trekkers, most of them are college students and some are IT employees and some of them have come with their family too. It is reported that nine people are announced dead. Among them, four are men; four are women and a child. 27 trekkers have been rescued and among them, ten of them have slight injuries.
