The teaser is breaking many records. It has managed to achieve 10 million views within 72 hours of its release which is a first time for any Tamil film. It is also the second highest liked teaser in the world. These achievements of Kabali have set a new benchmark for other Tamil movies. 
The film which is set to release worldwide in Telugu and Tamil on 1st July sees Rajni playing the role of a Mafia Don. It is rumored to be based on the life of a Don from Chennai.
