Chandrakumar, an auto driver from Coimbatore, impressed “
Vetrimaaran
” with his novel,
Lock Up
, which was filmed as “Visaaranai” with “
Samuthirakani
,”
Dinesh Ravi
, Adukalam Murugadoss and “
Anandhi
.” Now, the film has entered the Oscar race and made us proud. It has to cross two rounds successfully, to make it to the finals. Chandrakumar says, “I felt proud in Venice but today, I am thankful to the entire Visaaranai team for their effort and support. All the credit goes to Vetrimaaran. When I got the information about its entry to the Oscars, it didn’t surprise me. Oscar entry means a lot to the team, who worked very hard. My family is not aware of the Oscar entry. After Vetri had decided to make a film, based on my writing, I spent a lot of time with him. But, we didn’t discuss Visaaranai during those times. But, when they start shooting the police brutality scenes in Guntur, I was stunned. I took Vetri to every street in Guntur, where my friends and I used to eat when I was living there. Vetrimaaran accompanied me everywhere. Dinesh was quite shocked about the brutality which I faced for a crime I didn't commit." Chandrakumar hopes for the Oscar!
