“Don’t Think Manjummel Boys Should Be Remade”

Chidambaram S Poduval is a household name now, atleast in Mollywood.

With one movie ‘Manjummel Boys’, this director has shot to everlasting fame, as the movie is now the highest grossing Malayalam movie of the industry. Now he wants that this legacy should stay untouched, especially when it comes to remakes.

According to the recent reports, there are some production houses in Kollywood, Tollywood as well as Bollywood, who are ready to pay any amount to get ‘Manjummel Boys’ remade. However, Chidambaram is not enthusiastic about this plan.

In a recent interview, the director said that originality and nuances get lost in translation. He doesn’t want a movie like this, which took years to make, ruined by a random remake.

The success of the movie can be judged from the fact that this movie earned more than 50 crores from just its dubbed version in Tamil Nadu! The movie earned a worldwide total of 242.3 crores, which is the highest collection for any Malayalam movie till date!
