2024 is the probably the year of surprises, especially for Indian cinema.
Nothing is going by the book. The unexpected is happening. Just recently, the much awaited ‘Aadujeevitham’ has created history by becoming one of the fastest Malayalam films to have crossed 100 crores.

How so? In the first quarter of 2024, the highest grossing Indian film may have been ‘Fighter’, but in terms of overall success, it is Mollywood who is having the last laugh. They have probably learnt a trick or two from their Telugu counterparts. In short, quality is being given top priority.
This is because except for ‘Aadujeevitham’, none of their box office success have a budget of more than 30 crores. Interestingly, a rom com like ‘Premalu’ were made in a budget of just 3 crores, something that Bollywood has almost forgotten.
Let’s take ‘Manjummel Boys’ as an example. The movie was made in just 20 crores. Yet, it surpassed expectations to earn more than 230 crores worldwide, making it officially the highest grossing movie in the history of Malayalam cinema.
