The Alluring Trend Of New Generation In Malayalam Cinema

The Alluring Trend Of New Generation In Malayalam Cinema Malayalam Article

Well, the words “new generation” have suddenly captured our attentions. Malayalam cinema has come a long way, and it is known for the realism in it. However, before the entry of new generation film most of the movies concentrated on the hero eliminating rowdyism (I am afraid there are such films even now) and these movies cashed in on the mass appeal of the actors. But now, the Malayalam film industry is not afraid to test new genres and is experimenting with new generation movies.

To be precise, the Malayalam movies earlier were very much on predictable lines, and you would know what happens next. But now films are made that are innovative, and the production values are high. Now Mollywood is good enough in essaying unique stories without even depending on the mass appeal of the actor. The directors are not complacent with the potboilers, but dare to take the route that has never been taken. Now the heroes of the movies are sophisticated and they try to change the destiny according to their will.

New Generation doesn’t necessarily restrict itself to a new crop of actors and directors. It also means that there is a whole new facet to filmmaking, as I said before. It involves innovativeness in scripting, direction, digital adeptness, hard-hitting dialogues, etc. This doesn’t mean that earlier Malayalam films were not good; the films of the 90s were known for their content and the way of storytelling. In fact, its contemporaries looked upon the industry with great reverence. Directors like Padmarajan P.Padmarajan is an acclaimed name in Malayalam lit >> Read More... , Adoor Gopalakrishnan Born into a family in Kerala, Adoor Gopalakrishnan >> Read More... , and Bharathan Born on 14th November 1946, Bharathan was an India >> Read More... delivered exemplary films at a time the other regions mainly concentrated on potboilers.

The significance of New Trend cinema in Mollywood can be derived from this; the problem at a point was that the filmmakers mainly relied on the superstardom rather than good plots. But again this film industry has risen like a phoenix from the ashes (for some time the quality of Malayalam films was in question) and is indeed churning exemplary films. Nowadays stereotypes are minimized, and when some big budget movies that cash in on the superstars fail small budget, new trend films make the difference. Movies such as 22 Female Kottayam, City of God, Traffic, Neram, Bangalore Days Click to look into! >> Read More... , North 24 Kaatham, Usthaad Hotel, etc. strike the right chord with the audience, and new age actors have dared to don different roles. As far as heroines they also dare to explore the world and want to achieve their dreams.

Actors like Jayasurya Jayasurya is a versatile actor who hailed from Ker >> Read More... , Nivin Pauly Nivin Pauly is predominantly a Malayalam actor. Nowadays the script is given more importance in Malayalam film industry which makes the industry a strong contender for the new age films. Also, the new crop of Mollywood directors has an enhanced vision, and they don’t mind to experiment with different themes. Owing to their penchant for transforming their vision to reality they don’t seem to refrain from working with low budget films. And the good news is that these films do work at the box office.

Well, the bottom line is that thinking out of the box is not the question here. In fact, the audience will rush to the theaters when a movie is innovative. The question is how the vision of the filmmaker is accepted by the audience. This will remain a success to the filmmaker as well as to the taste of the audience. Keep changing with time. That’s what the New Age films seem to convey. With many new age films being embraced by the Mollywood audience, there’s no doubt that Mollywood is growing with time.
