Balakumaran is a popular writer, who has written many books and he also has written screenplays and dialogues for the films too. Born in the year 1946, this versatile writer has contributed his works to the cinema for more than a dozen films. His stories had gotten special audiences too. He is famous for his books and stories that got released in the Tamil periodicals such as Kumudam, Ananda Vikatan and Kalki. Some of his works in cinema include Nayakan, Guna, Gentleman, Kadhalan, Baasha, Sivasakthi, Ulaasam, Jeans, Mugavaree, Manmadhan and Pudhupettai.
He is very popular for his literary works such as Mercury Pookal, Krishna Arjunan, Udayar, Agalya, Thunai, Guru, Manam Uruguthey, Kadhal Arangam, Marakal, Thozhan and Gangai Konda Chozhan. He has written more than 150 novels and short stories. He is called by the readers as Ezhutthu Sitthar, which means the person who do magic with his writings. He was honored with various awards for his literary works. His awards are Sir Raja Annamalai Chettiyar Award, Illakiya Sindhanai Award, Cinema Express Award and State award for the best dialogue writer for the movie Kadhalan. He has also received few more state awards for his literary works such as Kadarpalam and Sugajeevanam. He resides in Chennai with his family and enjoying his life with his literary works.
