was born and raised in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He started learning music during his childhood from his mother, who was a teacher in the school. Later, he chose to study music formally from great musicians. His teachers are L. Vaikuntapaty, Perumbavoor G. Ravindranath, and M. G. Radhakrishnan. He won many prizes in university competitions during his school days.
Ravi Shankar is married to Priyarenjini, a native resident of Kottayam, whoworks with Corporation Bank as the Legal manager, Trivandrum. They have a daughter, Bhadra, who born on January 2007. He debuted in playback singing in 1999, when he recorded his first song for the movie.
He gave his voice for many desired songs and playback singing. In 2015, Ravi started creating his tunes for several songs which include serials and albums and debuted in music direction for a Malayalam movie. Recently, Ravi Shankar is anchoring a program called Raindrops, a live musical entertainer in the Malayalam channel Kairali.
