Samson Kottoor

Samson Kottoor is a music director and has given music to a lot of south Indian movies and TV serials like Traffic Click to look into! >> Read More... (Malayalam), Pallikoodam Pogamale (Tamil), Nee Yente Eankethavum, Israyelin, etc. and also has composed many Christian devotional albums. He has done about 80 Christian albums and 4000 stage performances both in India and abroad. He was born on 23rd February 1964 to late Mr. T. J Kottoor and Mrs. Rajammal Kottoor. Samson Kottoor is married to Rona Kottoor and has two children Ann and Steve. He had always been passionate about music and his parents encouraged and supported him too. At the age of 12, when his voice had begun to crack, he had lost faith in himself so he started losing confidence in himself. In one of his singing competitions, he had not performed well but he ended up getting a consolation prize which helped him regain his confidence.

Years later he came to know that he had actually lost in the competition but his father requested the authorities to give him a consolation prize so that he doesn't give up on music. This incident left a deep impact on him and he hasn't looked back since then. At the age of 17, he became a part of a devotional band named Gospel Tuners which was owned by Pastor JV Peter. He has been composing, writing lyrics, singing and doing the orchestration of the Christian devotionals since then. He began his career as a music director in films by re-recording for the duo Sanjay- Bobby for their TV serial “Avasthantharam” and then he went further to compose the background music and title song for another TV serial “ Avicharitham Avicharitham was a super hit serial telecasted in >> Read More... ”, in this process he gave music for the super hit Malayalam movie “Traffic” followed by another movie “Melvilasam”.

He has a Masters in Sociology and apart from that, he is trained in Violin from Tripunithura Jose, Augustine Kalabhavam, and Rex Issac. He has learned Karnatic music from Tripunithura Chandran and late SK Subramanyan Iyer. He has also learnt piano from Aswin Elias Kottayam and is currently learning Hindustani music from Ustad Faiaz Khan. He believes that a good film can influence humanity. Therefore, he prefers to listen to the script of the movie first. Apart from music he is devoted to social services and has started a church - City Changers Church on 13th January 2008 at Tripunithura, Kerala with the vision to bring a good change in the society.
