Sivabalan Alias Appukutty is a Tamil film actor, who was born in a village called Nathan Kinaru in Tuticorin district. He shifted his residence to Chennai in the year 1994 to do some business. To make his living safe, he worked in hotels as a server. Later, he got a chance to link with some cinema personalities and entered Tamil cinema. Initially, he acted in some uncredited roles in the films like Ghilli, Marumalarchi, Solla Marandha Kadhai and Azhagiya Tamil Magan.
Sivabalan acted in small roles for nearly 17 years. He was first recognized through the film Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu in the character name Appukutty. After that movie, he became popular and was called as Appukkty, his character name. After this movie, he acted in Madarasapattinam and Kullanari Kootam. Director Suseendran’s next movie Azhagarsamyin Kuthirai made Sivabalan to bag with a National Award for the Best Supporting actor. Sivabalan did the title role Azhagarsami and his excellent acting in that movie made him more popular among the Tamil audiences. He has also acted in four Malayalam movies, including Sneha Veedu and Issac Newton S/O Philipose. He got a good relationship with Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar through the movie Veeram. Sivabalan proudly says that Ajith encouraged him well and made him to act in his original name and not in the character name, to get a good identity from the audience. Ajith also shot Sivabalan with his camera and changed his getup entirely. This made Sivabalan to get a new reach among the audiences.
Sivabalan is currently doing lots of films, including Urumeen, Enga Kaatula Mazhai, Kaathiruppor Pattiyal, Payum Puli and an Ajith film. He thanks the people, who made him to reach his current position. He praises Malayalam cinema well for the hard working people.
