Vela Ramamoorthy is an Indian actor and writer who predominantly worked in Tamil film industry. He was born in Perunali, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu in India. He has done his schooling from KHN High School, Perunali and he is also a Pre University Course graduate. He served in Indian army for 5 long years and also in a post office before starting his acting career. He got married to Kaliammal on 11th March 1976. He won Best Villain Award presented by Vikatan Magazine for his outstanding portrayal of an antagonist in the movie “Kidaari.” He is acknowledged as one of the famous Tamil writers of his time. He is the author of the critically appreciated and best-selling Tamil novels like Kuruthi Aattam, Pattathu Yaanai, and Kutraparambarai, etc. He has also written the book “Vela Ramamoorthy Kathaikal” which is a compilation of short stories. Vela started his career as an Actor in 2013 in Tamil blockbuster movie Madha Yaanai Koottam starring Kathir and Oviya in lead roles in which he played a pivotal role. The plot of this film tells the story of the family of Jaikodi Thevar who is married to two ladies and how his first wife, with her brother, start plotting evil activities against the second wife and her children. Vela played the character of Veera Thevar, brother of Jaikodi Tevar. He made all his way to stardom for his portrayal of the character Vaatiyaar in 2016 in S.U.
