Manikandan is an Indian movie actor, who mainly works in the Malayalam & Tamil film industry. He made his debut in the acting career through Malayalam dramas and has acted in some Tamil films. Manikanda has a visual communications graduation degree and featured in Kala’s dance troupe doing stage shows.
He was selected by Shankar to work in his coming-of-age film Boys after impressing in auditions. Manikanda shot for the movie throughout 2002 beside fellow debutants Siddharth, Genelia D'Souza, Bharath, Nakul and Thaman.
The story featured six youngsters, portraying a message about the importance of good education and career over other distractions, such as romance and love, and marked a different perspective from Shankar's usual sort of vigilante films, gaining much publicity before release. The movie had mixed reviews but became successful at the box office.
In the upcoming years, while the other five debut actors have been successful, Manikandan had a hard time struggling to receive acclaim and feature in high-profile films.
