Nandan Subbarayan

Nandan Subbarayan is a writer and director predominantly working in the Tamil Film Industry. He hails from Cuddalore. He shifted to Chennai for his higher education. Subbarayan completed his B.E from SV Engineering College. After graduation, he wished for a career in the showbiz as a filmmaker.

In 2000, he got to assist director Bala for the movie “Nandha”. He worked with Bala as an assistant director for three years before deciding to venture out on his own. Nandan remembers that it was an excruciating process to get a producer on board for his debut film. He says that it took him nearly 7 years to finally lock in a producer.

“Agaman”, which he wrote and directed, was completed but couldn’t get a theatrical release due to financial problems. Nandan did not loose hope and started scripting his next film, “ Mayuran Click to look into! >> Read More... ”. “Mayuran” was an action- thriller revolving around the lives of college students.

The film took an year to film and was finally released in 2019. “Mayuran” starred Amudhavanan, Ashmitha Dogra, and Vela Ramamurthy in the lead roles.Jerad Felix composed the songs as well as the background score for the film.The film was well received by both critics and audiences.Nandan is currently scripting his next film, which will be a comedy.
