Magesh K Dev is a cinematographer in the Tamil and Kannada film industry who took a path which was awfully less trodden by any of the predecessors of his profession. As of 2016, he has only one film to his credit.,‘Care Of Footpath2’, which was directed by KishanShrikanth. One specialty of the movie is its director. KishanShrikanth was merely 19 years of age at the time of production of the movie, gaining the Guinness world record for being the youngest director to direct a full feature length film.
During the planning stages of the film, very few people took it seriously owing to the fact that the director was of such a young age and it was thus easy to assume that he was inexperienced. But the truth was that Kishan had directed a shorter movie titled ‘Care Of Footpath,' which is technically the prequel to his second movie. ‘Care of Footpath’ had won many international awards in various festivals, and Magesh K Dev knew this fact very well. Completely aware of the directors' skills and capabilities, he committed to ‘Care of the Roads2’ and it was a huge boost for him regarding his career opportunities. The film was well received by the public in Karnataka and the social issue that it raised took it to the attention of Film cooperatives functioning at National levels.
The film was a result of the combined efforts of all its crew members that took a total of three years in the pre-production process itself while most of the conventional Indian films are less planned and coordinated. Magesh was satisfied with the results since the film was later decided to be released in other states and thus, multilingual versions had to be made of the work. In Hindi, the film is renamed as ‘Kill Them Young’ and featured the veteran actor Jackie Shroff in a prominent role. What stands apart from all the other factors that make this film special is that it received a nomination for the 2016 Academy Awards. Even when big-budget,top-grossing films such as ‘Bahubali’ failed to gain such recognition, it came as a surprise to many when the film got a parallel entry into into the Oscars to compete as the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’.
Even though the film did not bag the award, Magesh knows that his choice of picking the movie was not a bad one.
