Aravind K Rao

Aravind K Rao is a cinematographer cum creative director in the Indian film industry. Aravind’s father worked in the lighting department as a lighting gaffer, which inspired him to enter the film industry. His father has more than 40 years of experience in the film industry.

In 2014, he completed his diploma in cinematography and film/video production at Chennai Film School. In 2016, Aravind worked at Hyundai Motor India Ltd as the Senior Cinematographer and Creative Director. He started his cinema career as an assistant cinematographer in films and TV commercials. He has made videos for popular Kathak dancers.

In 2018, he worked in the short film The Remaining. The same year, he was honoured with the Best Cinematographer award at the International Short Film Festival India. In 2019, he worked on the cover song of Life of Ram. The same year, he worked in a short, Kaathiruppom. In 2020, he worked as the Senior Cinematographer at Zee Entertainment. He worked for Dance Jodi Dance Reality as the senior cinematographer. By 2021, he has completed more than 50 telefilms and short films. He has also shot videos for reality shows’ promos.

In 2022, he joined NXT Wave as a Senior Cinematographer. The same year, he worked in another short, Kaar. In 2024, he worked as the advertisement director in NXT Wave. In 2025, he worked as the cinematographer in the film Jogidasbapu Khuman, directed by Shivrajj J.D. Khuman.
