. Koushik Shankar has been nicknamed as 'Mad Chef' because he is mad about his skills.
Koushik Shankar was born in Chennai. Soon after completing his school, he told his father about his passion for cooking. As he didn't accept, Koushik decided to move to his grandmother's house. He struggled a lot to achieve his goals. He had to do odd jobs to raise funds for his studies. He worked as a storekeeper, he went to houses to fill up a questionnaire for market research, worked as a supervisor in the kitchen of Hotel Rama during his struggle days.
Soon after he raised funds for his studies, he went to the Institute of Hotel Management, Bangalore. After his studies, he worked with Cafe Coffee Day and other restaurant outlets. He gives training to the interns. Koushik Shankar is very passionate about is work. He is married and has two daughters.
