Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Ambani is an Indian entrepreneur and an industrialist. He owns the largest shares of Reliance Industries Limited that is second biggest and valuable company in India. Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani was born at Aden, Colony of Aden (Yemen) on 19 April 1957.

Late Dhirubhai Ambani who is the founder of Reliance Industries is Mukesh’s father, and his mother is Kokilaben Ambani. He went to Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga. He got a BE degree in chemical engineering from there. He then attended Stanford University to do MBA, but he came back to India mid-term to help his father with Reliance enterprise. Dhirubhai Ambani got the license to establish PFY (polyester filament yarn) plant. He asked Mukesh to look into the matters of its establishment, and he started working for PFY manufacturing plant that integrated to petrochemicals in the year 1981. After that, he established information and communication technology initiative called Reliance Infocomm Limited which is now known as Reliance Communications Limited. Ambani has also created the world’s largest refinery for grassroots petroleum which is situated in Jamnagar. He has launched 4G broadband service called Reliance Jio and also smartphone brand called LYF.

Mukesh is the Institute of Chemical Technology’s member of Board of Governors in Mumbai. He is the managing director, chairman of Reliance Industries Limited. He was also an associate of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited. He is associated with Reliance Petroleum.

He is also the member of the credit committee, former director, and member of compensation and benefits committee of the Bank of America Corporation. In 2000, he received Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Asia Society awarded his the Global Vision Award in 2010. From the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science, he received a Dean’s Medal in the year 2010. Harvard Business Review has ranked him 5th best performing global CEO in the year 2010. For ten years, he is consistently Indian’s richest man. He also owns the Mumbai Indians Franchise of Indian Premier League.
