Born on 26 June 1904, Swaminathan Vaidyanathan adopted the stage name, Serukulathur Sama. In Tamil-language Hindu mythological films from the 1930s and 1940s, he was an Indian actor known for portraying the Hindu God, Krishna. He lost his mother when he was five years old, and his father remarried. Swaminathan consequently moved in with his uncle in Thanjavur. In addition to academics, he studied Carnatic music. He married and had three children after completing the S. S. L. C. test. In pursuit of work, he traveled to Madras. In that city, he worked as a clerk for two months in the Indian National Congress Party office before spending ten years at the Cosmopolitan Club. His Star Sign is Cancer. While employed at the Cosmopolitan Club, he met Ananthanarayanan Narayanan, a club member who founded Srinivasa Cinetone, the first sound recording studio in south India in Kilpauk. Swaminathan was introduced to film by Narayanan. Swaminathan, now known as Serukalathur Sama, was handsome and had a good voice. In the majority of the movies, he played Lord Krishna. After finding popularity as an actor, he started making movies. He took over the lease for National Movietone Studio and renamed it Bharat Cinetone on Poonamallee High Road in Chennai. His debut play was Shylock (also known as Shailak in Tamil), taken from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. Together with his lawyer friend, he co-directed the movie under the name Sama-Ramu.
