Sippy Pallippuram

Sippy Pallipuram is an Indian writer, poet, and prominent figure in Malayalam Literature. He was born on 18th May 1943 in the Ernakulam District of Pallipuram, Kerala. He is known for his children's stories and is one of the most acclaimed figures in the Post-independent Juvenile Literature of Kerala. He worked as a teacher in St. Mary's High School in Pallipuram since 1966. He has published over 200 children's storybooks and has been in the Malayalam Children's literature scene for four decades. His stories depict love for nature, honesty, respect for parents, kindness, Sincerity, patriotism, etc. His stories help in developing these values in the young minds of children. He is the editor of River Magazine. He is also a member of the editorial board of Yuvata, Cherupushpam, and Didymus magazines. He is the vice president of Cherai Ayyappan Memorial. He is also an executive member of Samastha Kerala Sahitya Parishad.

Some of his popular works are Kattile Kathakal, Chandanapavva, Thiranjedutha Balakathakal, Paavakka Kuttan, Minna Minung, Thadiyute Swarga Yatra, Thatamme Poocha Poocha, Nooru Akshara Pattukal, Pappadam Pazham Payaasam, Then Thullikal, etc. He has numerous awards for his publications. He won the Kerala Sahitya Awards two times in 2010 and 2013 ( for the books Oridathoru Kunjunni and Unnikalkku Noottiyettu Gurudeva Kathakal). Sippy won the Karaili Children's Book Trust Award in 1998 for his book Thathakalude Gramam. He won the Kunjunni Award, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Endowment Award (1990), the NCERT National Award (1995), the Bhima Children's Literature Award (1988), Sahradayavedi Award(1998). In 1992, he won the National Award for best teacher.
