S Mahadevan

S Mahadevan is a Mollywood singer and musician. He is a young artist who performs Carnatic music. His date of birth is 27th August 1997. His hometown is Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He is the son of Sri M Sriram and Smt. Jayalekshmy Sriram. His grandmother, Smt. N Lalitha was the disciple of Padmabhushan Sangita Kalanidhi Sri KS Narayanaswamy. He started his training with Sri Kavalam Sajeev and received guidance from Sri Mavelikara Subramanian. Later, he was trained under veteran musician Padmashri Parassala B Ponnammal for almost thirteen years. Mahadevan participated and won in Raga Ratnam (2008), a Classical Music Reality Show, which was telecasted on Amrita TV. His music has the beautiful harmony of Bhava, Laya, and Sruthi. His is skilled in fingering techniques, which allow him to cover both lower and higher octaves easily while playing Veena.

He has been Singing and playing Veena from the age of five. He also performed in New Delhi as the youngest Veena artist in South India. He does live concerts and performs at various religious and cultural centers. He also teaches classical music and instruments and has five years of experience. Prasar Bharati, Director General of Delhi, approved the gradation of Mahadevan in both Carnatic Vocal and Veena as a particular case due to his talent and achievements as a child artist. He has achieved Akashvani Grade before sixteen years and is an A-Grade Artist of Akashvani, Thiruvananthapuram. In 2010, Mahadevan was the Pogo Amazing Kid Singer. In 2015, he received the ‘Sri Shanmukhananda Bharat Ratna Dr. MS Subbulakshmi fellowship’ from Sri Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai. He was selected as one of the young artists to promote of Art and Culture by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, during 2018-20. Many reputed organizations and Sabhas featured him for the propagation of Carnatic music.
