P. V. Gangadharan

P. V. Gangadharan is a leading businessman and a well-known film producer in Malayalam film industry. He was born in Calicut in 1943. His father's name is P. V. Sami, who was a business tycoon and was also the founder of Kerala Transport Group of Companies.

His mother's name is Madhuri Sami. He is an eminent producer in Tamil and Malayalam film industry. His elder brother, P. V. Chandran is a managing director and editor of a famous Mathrubhumi newspaper. P. V. Gangadharan started the production company Grihalakshmi productions and till now more than 20 films had been produced under its banner. The movies produced by his company had been awarded with several awards and recognitions both at National and International level.

Some of the prominent movies produced by him are Sujatha, Manasa Vacha Karmana, Angadi, Ahimsa Kattathe Kilikkoodu, Vartha, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Advaitham, Thooval Kottaram, Notebook, Achuvinte Amma Kanakkinavu, Shantham. His success in South Indian film industry as a producer can be measured by the fact that till now he has won the prestigious Filmfare Award for six times. He received this award for the film Vartha, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Kanakkinavu, Veendum Chila Vettukaryangal, Achuvinte Amma, Notebook.

He also received International recognition; The Asianet Film Award in the year 1999 for the movie Veendum Chila Vettukaryangal and in the year 2005 for the film Achuvinte Amma. He also received National Film Award in the year 1997 for the movie Kanakkinavu, and in 2000 for the film Shantham in the Best Feature Film category. For his immense contribution in the cinema, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Asianet Film Award in the year 2009. Achuvinte Amma is a 2005 released Malayalam movie.
