VT Balram is a politician, born on 21st May 1978 in Othalur, Thrithala in Palakkad in Kerala. He belongs to the political party, Indian National Congress. His parents are K Sree Narayanan and VT Saraswathy. He went to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Palakkad. He did his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Sree Krishna College in Guruvayur in 1997. He did his B Tech in EEE from the Government Engineering College in Thrissur in 2002. He completed his LLB at Government Law College in Thrissur. Balaram went to the University of Calicut to do his MBA in Commerce and Management Studies. He was the senate member of the University from 1999 to 2000 and from 2006 to 2007. Balram is married to Anupama and has two children.
Balram was the editor in KSU State Kalasala from 2007 to 2008. He had been the State Secretary for the Youth Congress from 2009 to 2010. He was the General Secretary of the Youth Congress for three years, from 2010 to 2013. Although he is a Hindu by birth, he is not interested in insisting on Hindutva and at the same time, he opposed Communist ideologies. He was the MLA for two consecutive terms and he was elected from the Thrithala constituency. In the 2021 state legislative assembly elections, MB Rajesh, the former Palakkad MP, defeated him by 3173 votes.
Balram’s son is admitted to the government school and the politician stated that he wanted to raise his son without any religion and caste. Although there are many positive feedbacks, he is also open to some controversies.
