Parvathy Jayadevan

Parvathy Jayadevan is an upcoming Indian singer who primarily works in the South Indian film industry as a playback singer. Parvathy was born in a Malayalam household in Malappuram in the state of Kerala to Jayadevan and Sindhulatha. As per family traditions, Parvathy has kept her father’s name (Jayadevan) to her name as well. It is noted that her parents are highly qualified in the field of medicine and both of them are Ayurvedic doctors. She completed her schooling at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Thenhipalam. Later on, she went to study at Ethiraj College for Women.

Parvathy discovered her penchant for the art of singing in the early days of her childhood. She got training in classical music and showcased her talent in various school level music competitions. Her first breakthrough came in the form of Super Star Junior Season Two. Broadcasted by Amrita TV, she stood out among the contestants to be crowned as the winner of this talent hunt show based in Kerala. She continued to perform in many contests until she decided to compete at a higher level by participating in a Tamil singing reality show: Airtel Super Singer 4 in 2013. In December 2012, she chose Coimbatore as her audition venue for the Vijay TV’s program.

She showed her versatility when there were different themed rounds like “Western”, “Folk Songs”, “Love Songs”, “Dance Attack” and others. In the “Dance Attack” task, the judging panel consisting of Sujatha, Unnikrishnan and Srinivas who rated the talented artist as the “Top Performer” of this particular challenge.

Despite not winning the competition, she already announced her arrival on the big stage by winning everyone’s hearts. In no time, she made her playback singing debut with “Kannadi Poopole”, a Tamil song featured in the movie Anba Azhaga. Ultimately, she got her chance to work with A.R. Rahman for the song “Aye Kochu Kalla” with Haricharan as her co-singer, in Pradhi Nayagan starring superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran.
