K. S. Harisankar

K.S. Harishankar is a famous Malayalam film industry playback singer. He has made his debut at the very early age of 5 and with a great singer K.J. Yesudas in the movie ‘Saaphalyam’ released in 1999 and was directed by G.S. Vijayan. He was born in Haripad, Alappuzha district in Kerala, India. His father’s name is Dr. Alappuzha Sreekumar and his Mother’s name is Kamala Lakshmi.

He belongs from a musical background as his father was a principle of Swathi Tirunal Music College and his mother is a Veena player. He is the grandson of M.P. Gopalan Nair who was the chief engineer in All India Radio and Carnatic vocalist K. Omanakutty. Also, he is the nephew of Singer and music director Late M.G. Radhakrishnan and M.S. Sreekumar. He has a younger brother K.S. Ravisankar who is a violin player. He got married to Dr. Gadha Sidharthan in 2017. He is a trained classical singer and has an independent band of his own named ‘Pragathi’. He is trained under his father and K. Omanakutty. He got many awards for his outstanding performances as a playback singer in Malayalam film Industry. Some of his famous songs are ‘Kaatte Chaariya’ from movie Kaaranavar in 2014, ‘Payye payye’ from movie Ormayundo Ee Mukham in 2014, ‘Marhaba Marhaba’ from movie Lailaa O Lailaa in 2017, ‘Pavizha Mazhaye’ from movie Athiran in 2019 and so on. In the movie Geeta Govindam he did a cover of the song ‘Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavale’ in his own version which has gone viral just after the release. He is well known for his music covers.

Harishankar is a qualified dentist, but he chooses music as his career and is wholly devoted to music. His all music covers and band videos are available on his YouTube channel. He has appeared as Carnatic vocalist in a Music academy, Chennai and many other shows in Kerala and has won many awards.
